Builds and executes a marketing and communications strategy that aligns with overall PME mission and goals, including those of its affiliated centers and partners.
Understands the market and competitive dynamics and implications, including social and economic trends that impact PMEâ™s position and goals for growth and revenue.
Crafts messaging and positioning for PME in consultation with team leads and key stakeholders to help tell the story of our research, faculty, students, organization, impact, and our unique strategy.
Develops best-in-class marketing content that includes whitepapers/guides, checklists, infographics, videos, social media, and blog posts.
Creates and implements data-driven marketing and communications campaigns that increase enrollment, drive awareness and aid in recruiting faculty, students, philanthropic sponsors, and industrial and commercial partners, establishing methodologies to measure, track and course-correct.
Directs the development of content for website, newsletters, blogs, white papers, and social media.
Creates or directs the creation of high-impact support materials, including brochures, prospect decks, marketing collateral, and industry presentations.
Drives a continuous drumbeat of market and competitor intelligence implications, allowing for timely response and corrections to strategy deployment.
Manages and articulates the schoolâ™s interrelated brand architecture, including its relationships with the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab, and the Chicago Quantum Exchange.
Supervises a team of professional marketing and communications staff, both in-house and outsourced, responsible for marketing of events, programs, and special initiatives.
Maintains the School's brand story, identity, and voice, making sure the vision, mission, and objectives are clearly articulated in an authentic and cohesive manner across marketing channels.

Bachelorâ™s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field with progressively responsible experience.
Knowledge and skills developed through experience in marketing/communications or a related job discipline.
A proven track record as a strong strategic thinker with a results orientation who approaches any challenge with thoughtfulness, drive, data usage, and appropriate urgency.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling, and thoughtful messaging.
Background working with multiple stakeholders to craft pitches and stories.
Skilled at leading a data-driven marketing team towards meeting organizational goals and objectives.
Proficient in science journalism, marketing or communications, with a focus on translating technical research to a general audience.
Demonstrated expertise in developing user-focused content that follows brand, voice, tone, and visual guidelines.
Adept at cultivating relationships with reporters, journalists, and other media outlets in support of growing an orgâ™s brand.
Working knowledge in an academic unit and/or complex research university environment.
Background in a higher education setting.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Excellent computer skills evidenced by proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat. Â
Proficiency with graphic design tools, particularly for social networking platforms and website management, including photography and photo editing software and videography and video editing software.
Familiarity with content management systems, specifically Drupal.
Project management skills including budget management, KPI tracking, and attention to detail.
An exceptional storyteller with extensive experience in public relations, communications, and marketing.
A collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible 'hands-on' team leader and player who builds strong relationships internally and externally, and works well under pressure, thriving under tight deadlines.
A strategic leader who also enjoys getting your hands dirty in the execution.
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, coupled with excellent editing, proofreading and interviewing skills.
High level of collegiality in working with faculty, staff, departmental and university administrators, including enthusiasm, energy, and creativity.
Effective interpersonal skills including outstanding judgment, discretion, a strong ethical approach to decision-making and a demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts fairly and diplomatically, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
International experience and high cultural awareness.
