Stanford's
Graduate School of Business has built a global reputation based on its immersive and innovative management programs. We provide students a transformative leadership experience, pushing the boundaries of knowledge with faculty research, and offering a portfolio of entrepreneurial and non-degree programs that deliver global impact like no other. We are committed to advancing
diversity, equity, and inclusion in service of our mission of developing innovative, principled, and insightful leaders who change lives, change organizations, and change the world. We invite you to be part of this mission.
We're looking for a Marketing Manager to join our Communications and Marketing team for a one-year, fixed-term assignment. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of a multi-track, multi-day signature conference that positions the GSB as a vital contributor and leader on critical societal issues of our time, including climate change, inequality, rapidly advancing technology, the future of democracies, and shifts in global economic power.
In this role, you will lead a cross-functional team that will design the event including content development, event logistics; lead cultivation to attract program participants; communications activities to disseminate insights from the convenings; and partnership development across Stanford and with external individuals and organizations. This person will assemble the team and identify agencies and vendors as needed to ensure a successful event in the fall of 2022. You will work closely with others in the Communications and Marketing department. The role reports directly to the Director of Media Relations with a dotted line to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in all aspects of marketing and event design and production. You must be an experienced communicator who has an understanding of the societal issues of our time and how they intersect with management, research and policy. Experience with policy analysis and/or campaign management is a plus. You must have strong communication and organization skills, and be able to collaborate effectively across all levels of the school. Creativity and the ability to think beyond the project at hand is desired.
Your primary responsibilities include: -
Envision and help build support for a signature event that will position the GSB as a leader and contributor on important societal issues.
-
Design the initial conference content -- including the agenda, speaker lineup, and event format -- in partnership with the dean, faculty leadership, and Communications staff. Handle all aspects of speaker and participant invitations, preparation, and coordination.
-
Create a marketing program including overall branding, digital assets, online marketing, social media and email to attract participants. Collaborate with our media team to maximize its media appeal and amplify the impact of the event series.
-
Develop an ongoing engagement program that includes understanding audience interests and provides relevant content and information so that target audiences become and stay connected with the GSB.
-
Assemble and lead a team including agency and/or other vendors, to deliver the event. Manage timelines, meetings and budgets to successfully launch the first event.
-
Identify market opportunities and track market trends. Recommend marketing improvements based on findings.
-
May oversee interns and other contingent staff; provide staff training.
To be successful in this position, you will bring: -
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
-
Experience in marketing, communications and event management.
-
Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
-
Strong management skills including the ability to work with senior leadership, lead with influence and project manage a team of staff and external agencies.
-
Understanding of how to implement integrated marketing programs across channels including digital and print.
-
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
