This is a 30 hour per week, 12 month, Benefits Eligible, Civil Service position.
Hourly Wage: $20.76 - $27.50
This position is the first level within the Marketing & Communications job family. Key roles & responsibilities include maintaining the UMD Stores website, coordinating content and images on the site, and communicating marketing and website updates across the UMD Stores team. This person is also responsible for elevating the social media presence of the UMD Stores. Customer service, problem resolution and assisting with website orders are also key responsibilities of the role.
Website Maintenance - 35% • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to perform the ongoing daily maintenance and updates of the bookstore website, including tracking and updating product inventory levels accordingly. • Use HTML/CSS code to edit existing web pages and create or publish new web pages when needed. • Create and develop photographic web images in proper format. • Perform periodic purging of outdated product from website. • Add products to web catalogs in ARC and export to lnSite; assist with the creation of special department clothing orders • Coordinate long term website improvement projects (filters, menus, web categories, images, accessibility) • Work with course materials staff on updating and activating the buyback module each semester. • Incorporate content from multiple buyers & areas. • Work with buyers to implement temporary price changes/promotions on the website. • Update and maintain key store information on the website (i.e., store hours, events, and promotions, return policies, etc.)
Social Media - 25%: • Leverage social media platforms to drive website sales, increase website visits, and grow followers on social media platforms (Facebook, lnstagram, YouTube.) • Work with bookstore staff to create and post engaging social media content • Work with Marketing Manager to analyze web reports and analytics. • Assist with cross promoting of in-store events and activities to the website and social media outlets. • Assist Print Shop with web page design and format. • Assist with other marketing duties as assigned.
Communication - 20%: • Write and edit copy/content descriptions for merchandise on website, reviewing for style, clarity, and consistency; draft and edit system emails • Communicate with buyers and course materials manager to incorporate and pair necessary merchandise items with individual courses (art kits, bar charts, technology products, direct digital course materials etc.) • Work with the Computer Corner and Technology Buyer to maintain current laptop information and inventory online. • Assist with communicating any MBS lnSite/iCM upgrades or updates to staff. • Assist with customer service on website issues. • Monitor and reply to emails sent to the book accounts as needed
Order Processing - 15%: • Assist with coordinating, processing, training, and troubleshooting related to web orders • Work with Computer Corner to incorporate any available back-to-school promotions/offers online. • Assist on-site with training and online order processing for textbook reservations during fall and spring semesters
Other Duties as Assigned - 5% • Duties in support of overall store operations
Minimum Qualifications: • BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four (4) years
