Description: SFPA is looking for a motivated Marketing Program Manager to lead and manage our digital media and promotional activity along with working collaboratively with our Executive Director to plan our biennial EXPO event. We are seeking an ambitious, results-oriented, entrepreneurial candidate with an artistic eye for digital layouts as well as strong creative writing and verbal communication skills.
Planning/Administrative
- Develop and implement the communications plan, including budgets and timelines
Meetings and Events
- Assist with EXPO marketing development: selling sponsorships; coordinate trade advertising and direct mail campaigns to attract exhibitors and attendees.
- During EXPO, serve as on-site media contact and liaison with sponsors
- Assist with EXPO event planning and management, including but not limited to: food and beverage, electrical, A/V, security and medical, housing reservations, temporary staffing and registration
- Develop an Annual Meeting theme and manage the meeting promotion program to SFPA membership, trade press and industry using appropriate printed and electronic materials
- Assist with meeting logistics, including: arranges A/V requirements, coordinate sponsorships, acquires/hires guest speakers, hire entertainment; serve as the on-site contact for sponsors, speakers and entertainment
- Develop meeting materials delivered by members (podium scripts, announcements, etc.)
Writing, Editing & Publication
- Prepare periodic newsletters, featuring articles, and press releases that advocate SFPA’s activities and accomplishments
- Develop and produce a variety of content for web pages, email blasts, social media posts and printed publications
- Assure that the content of all released/published materials reflects SFPA’s mission and program objectives
- Edit staff communications upon request
- Serve as editor of the SFPA newsletters, social media posts and other digital media publications
- Maintain the SFPA Lumber Library with Executive Director – preparing updated editions as necessary to domestic and international publications
- Maintain an adequate, documented inventory of all SFPA publications, both on and off property
Website Management & Digital Media
- Supervise web page creation and maintenance of SFPA websites
- Manage the operation of SFPA’s social media accounts
- Serve as liaison to SFPA’s contracted website hosting, managing monthly service agreements and directing website projects
- Manage SFPA email database for media contacts, newsletter mailings and all other events
- Manage online member accounts, providing access to the Members Only section of www.SFPA.org
- Assist members with questions about how to use SFPA web resources: Product Locators, Members Only access
Audiovisual Production
- Produce or manage the production of images & graphics (for both electronic and print presentation) suitable to meet SFPA program objectives
- Produce annual activity updates (highlights) for membership review and promotion
- Contract and supervise vendors to produce materials outside the realm of SFPA production capabilities – audio recording, advanced video productions, etc.
- Maintain operation of SFPA presentation equipment
Membership Liaison
- Fulfill member requests for literature, industry facts and SFPA’s historical information
- Coordinate efforts to promote SFPA membership
- Coordinate Sawmill Safety Award program and other efforts to recognize member achievements: plaques and special awards, as needed
- Produce materials designed to retain existing members and recruit new ones; maintains content for the SFPA Membership Packet
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Conduct activities to meet the communications objectives established by the SFPA Board of Directors
- Report directly to the SFPA Executive Director
- Assist all staff members in the production of communications materials, as directed by the SFPA Executive Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree, preferably in the area of communications or journalism with at least 5 years’ experience
- A solid background in all phases of industrial/corporate communications; knowledge of print and digital media production, as well as website development capability is desirable
- Organizational skills to handle multiple, deadline-oriented tasks. Ability to work independently and collaborate with staff members on projects
- Knowledge of the forest products industry (PR/communications capacity) would be helpful
- A strong interest in meeting and events planning
- Knowledge of the trade show industry (planning/vendor management) would be helpful
- Must be willing to travel to trade shows and onsite visits, including travel over weekends
