The Marketing, Communications & Event Coordinator will direct, develop and disseminate all marketing and communications efforts for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). This includes developing and implementing an ECE marketing and communications strategy for the department, carrying out that strategy, and quantifying efforts through basic marketing analytics.
The Coordinator's primary responsibility will be the production of marketing, communications materials, and digital media. They will possess a background in marketing products or services, and designing marketing materials related to digital and social media, print, event promotion and general communications. To achieve this, they must possess superior writing and editing skills.
The Coordinator will collaborate on joint initiatives and coordinate marketing efforts with the College of Engineering (COE) marketing and communications team, as well as Northeastern University's marketing and communications department. In addition, they will work with the Director of Administration and Finance and Chair of the department, in gathering and creating department-specific marketing content for marketing output, such as print material, web stories, social media and event promotion.
They will work closely with the Chair in determining the basic strategic direction of all marketing and communications efforts. They will also work together on special projects determined by the chair and Director. The individual will work closely with the Director on marketing budget and curriculum promotion, respectively.
The Coordinator is expected to have a deep understanding of department activity within the context of university activity, as well as basic knowledge of the Electrical and Computer Engineering profession. This will involve working closely with ECE faculty to promote their research and successes; and external strategic partners on important events and partnerships.
The Marketing, Communications & Events Coordinator will also assist in managing several department events such as Industrial Advisory Group, Capstone Distinguish Speakers, Sophomore welcome, recruitment events, etc. and may be asked to supervise work study students from the College of Arts and Media Design, who assist with graphic design and photography.
This position will report to the Director of Administration and Finance.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in marketing, or business with a focus in marketing
3-7 years of experience required in marketing products or services
Experience producing marketing materials, including web, digital and social media and print design
Must possess advanced writing and editing skills
Ability to work well with minimal supervision and in a collaborative setting
Must be open to constructive feedback
Must be able to consistently produce high quality work under tight deadlines
Must be able to actively contribute to effective communication in a largely decentralized environment
Must be positive, outgoing, diligent, and capable of managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously and across various stakeholder groups in a dynamic academic setting
Knowledge of Electrical and Computer Engineering and academia a plus
Knowledge of photography and video production and editing a plus
