Overview:

Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) is an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Boston’s historic Back Bay whose mission is to advance the highest ethical standards in the conduct of biomedical, behavioral, and social science research. Since 1974, PRIM&R has served as the primary professional home and trusted thought leader for the human and animal research oversight communities. Through educational programming, membership services, professional certification, public policy initiatives, and community building, PRIM&R seeks to ensure that everyone involved in research understands the central importance of ethics in the advancement of science. This includes working to address systemic racism and other forms of structural injustice as they impact the research enterprise. Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing and communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager will contribute to PRIM&R’s overall marketing and communication plan and efforts, with particular focus on website maintenance, visual identity, and design.

What you’ll do:

• Manage and maintain PRIM&R’s website and web content management plan.
• Manage large design projects and work to establish and maintain PRIM&R’s visual branding and design identity.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of PRIM&R’s editorial calendar and program-specific marketing plans for email, web, social media, blog, etc.
• Develop, write, edit, and design PRIM&R marketing ads, emails, blog posts, event materials, etc.

Relationships:

• Internal: Works closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications and the Marketing and Communications Assistant. Must communicate regularly with all other department staff to create marketing content and design projects.
• External: Works with vendors including for web, blog, email marketing, PRIM&R’s Career Center, promotional and print materials, external ads.

What we’re looking for:

• Software: Microsoft suite, Adobe Creative Suite, CMS (Kentico - website, WordPress – blog), marketing platform (Higher Logic/RealMagnet), social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
• Management: Must be able to effectively manage projects and competing deadlines.
• Communication: Must have strong writing/editing skills and strong attention to detail, and be able to flexibly and diplomatically work across programs with a variety of staff.
• Requires an understanding of current and upcoming trends in marketing/communications and design, particularly for associations and nonprofits.
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS and web best practice (usability, SEO, design, etc.).
