Dexter Southfield seeks an individual with superior organizational skills to support a fast-paced Marketing & Communications Office. This position is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to launch their marketing and communications career and offers growth opportunities in project management and writing/editing.
The individual will join highly motivated colleagues in External Relations who pursue creative and entrepreneurial initiatives and implement best practices in the spirit of the School’s motto, “Our Best Today, Better Tomorrow.” They will play a critical role in the School’s Marketing and Communications Office and collaborate with departments and colleagues across campus, including Division Heads, Admissions, Athletics, and more.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to build strong and productive working relationships and effectively manage outputs across multiple departments and stakeholders. They will be team player with a positive and service- and results-oriented outlook. To be successful in this role, candidates will balance strategy with flexibility, take initiative over projects and responsibilities, and bring an attention to detail and sound judgment to the position, which includes the following:
Create and execute on annual, monthly, and weekly calendars for the School’s parent and alumni email communications
Oversee content creation/organization for all parent and alumni emails, including community announcements, event invitations, division head emails, solicitations, newsletter (alumni, Parents Association, and College Counseling), and other external notices
Create and maintain library of email templates and ensure brand integrity
Manage school-wide digital mailing lists for multiple constituencies, including audiences, groups, and tags
Oversee the School’s online parent calendar
Update content to ensure consistency between parent communications, parent portal, and online calendar
Maintain updates to constituent data, including faculty/staff directory
Assist Director of Marketing & Communications with ad hoc website updates, as needed
Coordinate the School’s annual enrollment/re-enrollment forms data intake
Create and maintain library of digital publications, including handbooks, resource guides, magazines, and other schoolwide publications
Assist with scheduling photo and video shoots
Collate edits and manage feedback process with third-party vendors (design partners, photographers, videographers)
Provide administrative support to the Marketing & Communications team through budget management, file storage/organization, and coordination of team’s project management software
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key campus stakeholders, including Division Heads and colleagues in External Relations, Admissions, Athletics, and College Counseling
Collaborate with Marketing & Communications Team members to assist with additional team responsibilities as needed, including photography, videography, and social media (Please note,Dexter Southfield’s Marketing & Communications team structure includes professionals dedicated to graphic design/photography and social media/digital marketing)
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, or a related field
1 to 3 years of experience in communications, marketing, advertising, or journalism; knowledge of independent school environment desirable
Comfort with various technology platforms
Strategic and critical thinking skills and the ability to articulate the school’s value proposition
Excellent writing, grammar, and editorial skills
Demonstrated organizational and operational skills; superior interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail
Ability to develop, monitor, and adhere to budgets and production schedules
Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
