Troy Athletics is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Marketing and Fan Experience. The responsibilities listed below provide a guideline of expected responsibilities. Detailed responsibilities will be assigned based on candidate’s background. Position Summary: The Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Marketing and Fan Experience will assume responsibility of leading and managing the marketing and promotional efforts of Troy University Athletics. The position will seek to maximize positive exposure, revenue generation and game day experience opportunities. They must understand and apply complex marketing and promotional campaigns, be able to increase attendance at athletic events, optimize the use of social media for marketing and promotional purposes, create and execute specific campaigns to increase exposure and attendance for Troy’s athletic programs as well as other department entities and units, as well as lead in the development of promotional materials and advertisements. The Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Marketing and Fan Experience will report to the Executive Associate Athletic Director of External Operations. They will work closely with the University Alumni Office, as well as University Communications and Marketing. This position also coordinates with the department's multimedia rights holder to identify and allocate advertising spend, as well as other trade inventory, in the most effective and efficient manner. The two units will also collaborate to ensure fulfillment of sponsorship agreements. The Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Marketing and Fan Experience will oversee all email marketing campaigns and oversee social media from the primary accounts for the Athletics Department. This position will also work with the Development staff in coordinating and putting on key fundraising events for all athletic programs. The Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Marketing and Fan Experience will supervise additional marketing graduate assistants and student staff, assigning them to specific sports for advertising, in-game promotions and marketing material distribution as well as efforts to distribubte Troy Athletics information into the community and across campus.
Bachelor’s degree. • Experience in collegiate athletics. • Experience in sports marketing and promotions. • Experience in managing and running social media accounts. • Experience with developing advertising plans and budgets, as well as placing advertising inventory. • Proficient in Microsoft Office. • Experience taking marketing plans from concept to successful implementation.
Experience leading a marketing staff.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle many tasks at once
Experience producing run of show at large events.
Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with both internal and external clients at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work well in a team environment and to have leadership skills.
