Detailed Description: The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing will have primary responsibility for establishing, integrating and managing the brand of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES), enhancing the reputation, promotion and visibility of the School, its academic departments and its centers and institutes to national and international audiences. This position will manage print and digital marketing campaigns, including social media outlets, and ensure effective knowledge sharing about the School. The Assistant Director will operate as a key member of the Dean's administrative leadership team and will work collaboratively with the admissions team, assistant director of alumni relations, web developer, director of admissions and outreach, and university public affairs personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Establishing, Integrating and Managing the Brand
Lead, develop and implement an agenda for messaging, content and branding.
Develop, present and implement a comprehensive annual digital communications strategy and social marketing plan that enhances the reputation of, increases the visibility of and drives traffic to the website as well as social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram). The plan should focus on short-term strategies, goals and engagement (six months to one year) and long-term strategies, goals and engagement (over one year) and integrate print, web, e-communications, social media, SEO search and other emerging technologies.
Maintain an active and vibrant presence on, drive participation to, and respond timely to posts on the School's Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other sites.
Track the performance of digital campaigns and social reach using available online analytic tools. Prepare and submit quarterly reports on trends and traffic and benchmark the report against similar and aspirational institutions.
Promotion of SOLES
Actively manage and oversee SOLES' communications including, but not limited to, researching, writing and editing content for feature stories and website panel content; coordinating photo shoots with subjects, photographer and art director; updating daily event and news listings; posting School specific content from other outlets; post new content on website and social media platforms; actively participate in School's social media outreach efforts.
Work with the Assistant Dean and Director of Admissions and Outreach to oversee website content development, including use of search engine optimization techniques, to prospective students and donors to SOLES website.
In conjunction with the Dean's suite and Admissions Office, direct research, writing, editing and distribution of all School print and e-publications.
Create and distribute special event fliers, posters, and other collateral promotional materials for SOLES. Assist Director of Admissions and Outreach with advertising messaging, creative design and ad placement.
Enhancing the Reputation and Visibility of SOLES
Continually work to enhance and extend the brand through all media to promote core values and attributes.
Serve as the liaison to University Relations for the purpose of enhancing the reputation and creating greater visibility and promotion of faculty, student and alumni achievements as well as events. Prepare, edit and post press releases, media advisories, campus announcements, etc. Post pertinent announcements to the School's website.
Serve as the liaison between the Dean's Office, faculty, and University Relations.
Other Duties as Assigned
Provide marketing support to the dean, admissions, and institutes as needed.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including some general office duties to support marketing efforts.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Experience: Three years of proven and successful experience in writing, editing, marketing, digital marketing, social media for business purposes, communications, web communications, and public relations. In addition, this individual will have proven expertise in the professional use of social media (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn), the internet, Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), Adobe, Canva, Constant Contact, knowledge of website content publishing software and AP writing style. Must have demonstrated commitment to issues of multiculturalism and social justice.
Preferred Qualifications: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree. Experience: Five years of proven and successful experience in writing, editing, marketing, communications, web communications, social media for business purposes, public relations and managing projects that include web usability, project management and production. In addition, this individual will have proven expertise in the professional use of social media (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn), the internet, Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) Adobe, Canva, Constant Contact, Hubspot, Salesforce and knowledge of Contribute, Photoshop, Publisher/InDesign, and AP style. Previous experience in a higher education or nonprofit environment highly preferred.
