Summary of Position:
This position is a key member of a 3-person communications and marketing team that works closely to support all school initiatives and projects within the Marketing and Communication Office as a member of the Advancement Team. The Marketing & Communications office seeks to ensure St. Michael’s visibility in the independent school marketplace and advance the school’s key messages and brand to internal and external audiences. This position will play an integral role in the planning and execution of a coordinated program integrating admissions, development, alumni relations, marketing, branding, and communications. This position will report to the Director of Communications and Marketing and is a part time (20-25 hours per week), non-exempt position who will work 12 months of the year.
Responsibilities of the Marketing and Communications Assistant:
Assist with writing, editing, and scheduling the production of marketing collateral/advertising materials: viewbook, news stories, postcards/flyers, brochures, banners, signs, etc.
Assemble and layout content for weekly all-school e-newsletter. Collaborate on admission and advancement messaging/communication outreach efforts and ensure consistent branding
Develop and update website content including writing, photo selection, and technical implementation. Track website performance with Google Analytics.
Manage the school’s Vimeo and YouTube channels and LinkedIn page.
Update school profiles on NAIS, ISAS, TCCB-ED, NCEA, TAPPS, Yelp, Niche, Private School Review, and other websites/organizations.
Manage SEO work and optimize the school’s online presence via website content, title tags, meta descriptions, and other factors that affect the school’s Google ranking.
Monitor campaign success and make recommendations to increase effectiveness.
Capture and promote key events and activities—photo and video—and help maintain the school’s photo/video Vidigami archive. Curate photos/videos as needed for print, digital marketing/social media purposes.
Assist with event promotion through online calendars, event listings, and media alerts.
Implement Google Adwords.
Research marketing approaches of other public and independent schools.

Required Degree, Experience and Skills:
Experience in a not-for-profit organization with an Advancement team preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field.
Minimum of five years of experience handling marketing, communications, website and/or social media.
Use of project management software, g., Asana-type system.
Ability to interpret and provide reports on marketing and website metrics, including Google Analytics.
Experience with social media platforms and their corresponding analytics.
Ability to produce accurate and publication-ready work, keeping all communications aligned with brand standards and established guidelines.
Videography and photography skills and knowledge.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, Adobe Suite, Blackbaud, etc.
Must be organized and detail oriented, set priorities and meet deadlines while managing a fluctuating workload.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
