1. Works collaboratively with staff, creates marketing content in support of the college’s enrollment strategy, including emails, newsletters, websites and other print and digital material. 2. Serves as the lead writer for news and feature content for all publications (print and digital). 3. Edit/proofread a wide variety of documents, grant applications and other communication as assigned. Ensure appropriate tone, readability and flow of information. Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax and word usage. Proofread for errors and detail alignment in content, copy and design. 4. Writes and edits additional website content, including copy for pages that represent programs, services and people, ensuring quality, consistency and accuracy. 5. Serves as point of contact for internal college relations. Develop effective communications for internal audiences. Interact with staff college-wide to gain the required information and background. 6. Completes other writing and communications assignments for varied audiences including prospective students, alumni, donors and the campus community. 7. Prepare and edit speeches for leadership team and adjust style as appropriate for various authors and audiences. 8. Handles a variety of competing assignments within established deadlines. 9. Produces copy edit and proofreads material as assigned. 10. Related duties, projects and initiatives.
1. Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, English, journalism, or related field. 2. At least three years of public relations, writing and/or journalism experience that required the ability to work with a variety of multimedia formats and marketing techniques. 3. Excellent writing, proofreading, and copy editing and marketing communication skills as verified through a review of professional portfolio materials at the time of interview. 4. Knowledge of standard proofreading practices, procedures and concepts required. 5. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast paced environment and to produce professional, accurate and thorough materials within established deadlines. 6. Ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups in respectful and productive ways; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the college’s leaders as well as students, faculty, staff, donors, alumni and the general public. 7. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing and multimedia software.
