Loyola University Maryland Department of Athletics is seeking high-energy and outgoing candidates to be the Assistant or Associate Director of Strategic Marketing. The successful candidate will create grassroots opportunities to communicate and engage with Loyola students, coordinate and plan with various on-campus departments and organizations to increase the reach and awareness of Loyola Athletics. The successful candidate will Manage the external social media accounts that support Loyola Athletics; assist with the creation and distribution of video, static, and other creative content. Serve as POC for Van Wagner Sports Enterprises for the execution of most social media-based content that is sponsored.
The Assistant or Associate Director of Strategic Marketing will be a primary promoter of Loyola Athletics to continue to push the Greyhounds brand throughout the community through social media, partnership with existing groups both internally to Loyola and externally. The successful candidate will lead the effort to identify and build a robust offering of group ticket opportunities (as they relate to marketing plan) that will engage both for-profit and non-profit organizations in the Baltimore community and oversee the planning and execution for the Men's Basketball Courtside Club, including the sale of courtside seating, management, and communication of the gameday events. The position will also support Loyola's third-party corporate sales partner (Van Wagner Sports Enterprises) to ensure all elements of each contract are delivered as pertains to Loyola Athletics ticket sales and strategic marketing efforts. Develop strategic marketing plans to promote Loyola Athletics through social media, branding campaigns, and student and external fan engagement. Assist communications and video team in the production of creative and visually appealing content that will market Loyola Athletics through social media and other outlets. Work with Associate Director of Gameday Marketing to create plans for increasing resources through ticket campaigns and other revenue streams for basketball, lacrosse, and soccer programs while generating increased attendance at events and enhance the overall gameday fan experience. Manage donor-level Courtside Club for Loyola men's basketball games.
Essential Functions Include:
Develop and execute strategic marketing plans that meet the goals set by the AVP/Director of Athletics and Associate AD for Athletics Communications, which focus on increasing attendance and further enhancing the image of Greyhounds Athletics. Partner with others in the Department of Athletics, as well as University Marketing and Communications, to promote the overall image of Loyola University Maryland and Greyhounds Athletics.
Develop grassroots opportunities to communicate and engage with Loyola students. Coordinate & plan with on-campus departments to increase reach and awareness of Loyola Athletics and opportunities to support the Greyhounds.
Manage the external social media accounts that support Loyola Athletics; assist with creation and distribution of video, static and other creative content. Serve as POC for Van Wagner Sports Enterprises for the execution of most social media-based content that is sponsored.
Develop revenue-generation opportunities through digital and e-mail marketing campaigns and strategic organizational partnerships.
Collaborate with AVP/Director of Athletics and Associate AD for Athletics Communications to establish goals for generating ticket revenue.
Collaborate with Associate Director of Gameday Marketing to create an external ticketing plan that is marketed to fans outside of the immediate Loyola community.
Lead effort to identify and build a robust offering of group ticket opportunities (as they relate to marketing plan) that will engage both for-profit and non-profit organizations in the Baltimore community.
Oversee all planning and execution in support of the successful annual events related to season ticket holders, including the existing Men's Basketball Courtside Club and other usages of game day suites.
Collaborate with other members of the marketing and athletic communications teams, in addition to university partners (i.e. Van Wagner, concessions, event services, etc.) to identify and develop opportunities for improving the quality of the gameday fan experience.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or communications, or related field.
3-5 years of work-related experience
Experience in athletics marketing, client services, event operations ticket sales, or similar work experience in collegiate or professional sports.
Extensive knowledge of programs such as Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to create content for social media; proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (or similar video production software) and cloud-based graphics programs such as Canva or Scoreshots is preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills combined with exceptional organizational skills.
Superior time-management skills and ability to manage deadlines. Ability to work independently, meet challenging deadlines, and handle multiple projects.
Required performance of all duties and responsibilities in compliance with all NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules.
Ability to support the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit education, as well as University goals for institutional diversity.
