Reporting to the Director of Administration and working closely with the Center Director and the Director of the Master of Bioethics program, the Assistant Director will lead the communications and events team (Events Program Coordinator and Communications Assistant) to plan, promote and execute 65-70 events/year (spread among weekly, monthly and annual events). Additionally, the Assistant Director is responsible for directing and executing the marketing of the Harvard Medical School Master of Bioethics (MBE) which serves students from diverse educational and professional backgrounds to provide a rigorous academic grounding in bioethical issues related to clinical practice and research as well as health law and policy.
This is a hands-on role for someone with strong strategic skills who is also capable of in interested in developing and executing detailed communication and marketing campaigns and putting on high-quality lectures and events.
Informed by and aligned with the Center mission and priorities, and in partnership with Center Leadership, develop and execute strategic plans for Center communications, events and marketing, that maximize the utilization of Center resources (both staff and faculty). Develop an organizational plan for the communications and events team to most efficiently execute these plans.
Working with leadership, faculty and staff, develop a plan for return to in person events, that appropriately leverages audience gains made during a year of virtual only offerings, but also balances administrative support required for different types of events and aligns activities with Center mission and goals. 5 years relevant work experience, including some supervisory experience
Degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in Drupal 8, Constant Contact. Familiarity with CVENT a plus
Must be highly organized, strategic, and detail-oriented
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders under tight deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as project and time management skills
Experience developing integrated and metrics-driven campaigns for digital and direct marketing, market research, SEO/SEM, social media, content marketing, web presence, mobile, and channel selection and optimization are important
