Position Title: Director of Marketing and Public Relations Reports To: Chief Executive Officer Status: Full-time, exempt Location: Visit Beloit, 656 Pleasant St., Beloit, WI 53511 (non-remote) Expected Results: Global Result: To propel the Greater Beloit region to a top-of-mind status among potential visitors. Regional Result: Increase tourism expenditures, economic growth, and positive media exposure for the destination. Position Result: Develop and manage a strategic marketing and communications plan. Position Overview: Visit Beloit, the destination marketing and management organization for the Greater Beloit, Wis. region, seeks a seasoned marketing leader to provide momentum to the organization’s mission. This position is focused on advertising, branding, and communications, and requires possession of management and interpersonal skills. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations will work towards executing the annual marketing and communications plan that drives visitation to the region and will work alongside the team to increase local spending. Additionally, the candidate should be motivated towards embracing our community and its tourism-related assets, as well as being a self-starter, team player, and outstanding leader. The organization leans on vendors and the candidate must be able to manage and oversee several contracts. Marketing the destination is a fluid and exciting position. The candidate should be able to develop and implement changes to their work, as needed. It is vital that budget planning, creation of strategic and annual plans, communicating the work of the organization, and collaborating with community members to build partnerships are priorities brought to the table. Essential Functions: - Overall management of the Visit Beloit brand and brand voice
- Lead the process of developing long and short-term marketing strategies, plans, and budgets
- Design and manage all marketing, promotional, and communication materials
- Maintain successful relationships with the tourism-related businesses of the region
- Specifically, manage:
- Internal and external public relations
- Research initiatives
- Print and digital production of literature
- Special events and projects to promote the Greater Beloit region
- Database of partners and stakeholders
- Visual asset library
- Social media channels
- WordPress website
- Work with staff to complete projects effectively
- Evaluate, hire, and manage outside vendors
- Interface with the Greater Beloit Partnership as needed to understand, plan, and execute any contracted marketing projects
- Develop and maintain media relations
- Participate in media appearances
- Management of interns and/or direct reports
- Other duties may be assigned
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Thorough understanding of marketing principles
- Experience in all aspects of marketing project management from concept development through production
- Articulate in both verbal and written communications: copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills
