Founded in 1912, Tower School is an independent PreK-8 school located in Marblehead, MA. The Director of Marketing and Communications collaborates with Tower School leadership to develop and implement comprehensive and dynamic marketing and communication strategies that reflect the school’s mission and values and celebrate our program. The director is responsible for ensuring clarity and consistency in branding and position while representing campus life through various media including print, digital and video.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Drive inquiries to support Enrollment and Development goals through positive word-of-mouth
Maximize engagement and build awareness of the school through effective social media; advance Tower’s social presence across platforms
Conceptualize and produce compelling visual storytelling through video and photography
Design and produce all digital and print publications, brochures and newsletters
Cultivate media relations, including press releases. Seize PR opportunities.
Create overarching, school-wide communication plan, craft communication for constituent groups with clarity and consistency of message
Generate actionable market research and assess opportunities within a competitive landscape
Develop and Implement Digital Marketing Strategies
Prioritize school website; Capitalize on user experience to increase conversion rates and encourage deeper discover through relevant content
Engage prospective families with personalized touchpoints to facilitate their enrollment journey
Produce and manage school-wide content marketing
Manage ongoing Google PPC ad campaigns
Develop Marketing Automation workflows
Evaluate effectiveness of marketing and communication through analytics; use data to support or recommend iteration as necessary
Manage and Build Brand
Promote school’s mission across all media
Ensure family and visitor experience meets brand expectations
Employ consistent visual identity across digital and print advertising, athletic uniforms and mascot, school vehicles and campus wayfinding, identity kit, signage, etc.
Communicate About and on Behalf of the School
Oversee and manage all official school communications and ensure that materials reflect our mission, philosophy, and values
Establish an annual communications calendar that includes a production schedule for all print and electronic materials, internal and external correspondence, and specific marketing projects
Create and implement an overall electronic communications strategy and serve as primary content/organizational manager for the school website, e-communications to various constituencies and social media sites, etc.
Collaborate with school leaders on communications policies for parents, students, and staff
Candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills with ability to produce materials quickly and in a variety of styles (published articles, communication to families, social media content)
Strong attention to detail, proactive in nature, ability to prioritize and be flexible in managing multiple deadlines
Knowledge and experience with desktop publishing software and content management systems
Experience in graphic design and photography
Skilled and creative problem-solving
Sense of humor and collaborative work style
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Five years’ experience in marketing and communication preferred
This position is a 12-month, full-time position and requires occasional weekend and evening work.
