Coordinates and develops sales for a college or division program.
Acts as liaison for a program with potential clients; makes contact by telephone, mail and in person to promote the program.
Develops proposals and appropriate budgets for sales contracts.
Develops policies and procedures, and promotional materials, for sales operations.
Represents the college or division at professional conferences, trade shows, meetings, etc.
Travels in the U.S. and abroad, as necessary, to negotiate contracts and conduct demonstrations.

Bachelors and 3 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
Responsibilities of the Marketing Coordinator: The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the development, production, and distribution of marketing materials to ensure the continued growth of sales of APP books. The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director and works closely with all departments at APP. Key areas of responsibility include:
Production and distribution of catalogs, fliers, and advertisements: Develop, produce, and distribute all catalogs and brochures (a minimum of five each year), as well as other miscellaneous fliers and occasional advertisements. Responsibilities include: managing and editing catalog content by working collaboratively with various staff members; designing and laying out catalogs; managing catalog and brochure mailings by working with list rental agencies and UH postal services; managing catalog inventory.
Website Management: Update the APP website as well as the websites of all key accounts, including Amazon.com, Bowker, BN.com, Ingram, etc. Responsibilities include sending new title information to all website managers at key accounts; updating and correcting information on all websites to ensure accuracy of title, ISBN, etc.; sending new book covers when available; sending sample chapters and interior page spreads when available; and updating all websites with review blurbs as they become available.
Production of online publicity and marketing materials: Use Constant Contact to produce and send regular e-blasts to confirmed and prospective customers.
Production of e-book and metadata files: Assist in preparing book and metadata files for various e-book sellers.
Maintenance of marketing database: Oversee the maintenance of APP’s marketing database of confirmed and prospective customers. This involves seeking out new leads as well as confirming current contacts.
Conferences: Work with the Assistant Director and Publicity Coordinator on all aspects of conference attendance, including determining which conferences APP should attend, preparing marketing and promotional materials to increase booth traffic and sales; and finalizing the logistics of each conference.
Qualifications:Candidates should have three years experience in marketing, preferably in the book industry. Outstanding written and oral communication skills are required. Also required are excellent organizational and computer skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with design programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite. Must be able to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable but not required.
