The Marketing Manager is responsible for executing an integrated marketing and communications approach across all departmental entities in an effort to bolster the participation and awareness of Campus Recreation programs and services to undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff. This position is responsible for assisting program and service managers in reaching all revenue goals. Additionally, this role supervisors the Graduate Assistant, Marketing.
Working in collaboration with senior management as well as program and service managers, the Marketing Manager oversees the communications plan in an effort to assist them in realizing an income of over $1 million. The Marketing Manager oversees a communications budget in excess of $50,000 for the production of print, web-based, video media, and staff wages. Assists in the management of the existing sponsorship budget of $5,000 and seeks sponsorship opportunities to generate more revenue with a goal of $30,000 or more in the first year.
Chooses appropriate photography and language for all communications materials; Coordinates marketing priorities for all program managers; Sets deadlines for all program managers. Manages communications budget in excess of $50,000 for the production of print, web-based, video media, and staff wages.

Athletics has its own separate marketing and sponsorship strategy and as such the Marketing Manager must be sensitive to existing division strategies as well as those of Boston College. Awareness of marketing guidelines for non-profit entities and copyright concerns. Balancing the promotion of all internal and external events and programs housed within Campus Recreation facilities, being mindful of the volume and methods utilized.
Bachelor's degree required; degree in Marketing, Communications or related area strongly preferred.
Requires 3-4 years of professional level experience in marketing/communications having developed effective promotional material for target audiences. Experience with developing and implementing a marketing plan strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to edit copy and accept edits/changes.
Proficiency in all forms of desktop publishing including Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, all forms of print media from inception to completion, web and video materials preferred. Broad knowledge and experience in campus recreation or similar university setting, including use of Innosoft Fusion preferred.
Photography and videography competencies, including editing and sound mixing, are desirable Requires very strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills Ability to thrive in a diverse student-service environment in a collegiate setting

Managing in a university recreation center requires flexibility and some work on nights and weekends.
Some heavy lifting is required.
