University Marketing & Communications has an outstanding opportunity for a Digital Marketing Automation ManagerPOSITION PURPOSEHelp maximize the effectiveness of digital marketing efforts executed by University Marketing & Communications (UMAC) on behalf of the UW.This position is an integral component of the University's central communications team, which is responsible for communications that represent the University of Washington at the highest/institutional level. The digital marketing automation manager develops, analyzes and consults on marketing automation campaigns that represent the University of Washington at the highest institutional level as well as communicate and elevate its reputation as a world-class and leading-edge public research university.The complexity of the UW's structure and involvement in marketing and communications creates the need for strict governance of data, access to Marketo and best practices, using standards set by the UW's Marketo Central Service Governance Committee. This position will be expected to provide reinforcement of that governance as directed by the Director for Digital Engagement.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES Consult with UMAC colleagues and unit partners on marketing automation and email strategies and best practices. Build, send and analyze email and marketing automation campaigns for UMAC colleagues and unit partners. Ensure quality control (e.g., testing, proofing, fact-checking, list management) on all UMAC-generated email campaigns and provide quality control assistance to other units as needed. Actively participate in governance decision-making and reinforcement as part of the Central Service Governance Committee. Contribute strategic thinking to the UW's use of marketing automation. Regularly analyze and interpret email performance stats, and make recommendations for adjusting our approach based on that analysis. Help develop email and marketing automation best practices. content/documentation and contribute to the creation of related presentations. Serve as managing editor for the UW's internal Marketo e-newsletter, which helps Marketo users at the UW build expertise and adopt best practices. Serve as a subject matter expert for the Advancement training team, assist with evaluation of training outcomes and make recommendations for amendments to training curricula. Sub in for the e-communications director in planning and strategy meetings with units when necessary. Actively participate in online forums (e.g., Slack and FreshDesk) with Marketo users across the UW to share best practices and troubleshoot issues. Become a Marketo Certified Expert. Apply organizational and project management skills to help with the rollout and adoption of new marketing automation features.
