Northeastern University Athletics is seeking a graduate assistant in the Marketing, Promotions, and Game Day Experience office, located in Boston, Massachusetts. The position involves assisting the marketing department with developing new and innovative ways to market to Northeastern students and fans, building attendance at home games, driving ticket and merchandise sales, and creating a positive gameday atmosphere and fan experience. They will collaborate with communications, marketing, video, ticketing, sponsorship and fundraising personnel to craft original ideas and content for the 2019-20 athletics season.
This position will be responsible for adhering to the goals that are consistent within the Athletics’ 2025 Vision.
•Distinctive Student Experience: Supports the goal of providing a distinct student experience by creating content and marketing support that inspires networks of pride and engagement among students and fans. This includes, but is not limited too, assisting with implementation of in-game planning and promotional efforts and building game attendance through the development of new brand campaign. These in-game planning and promotional efforts including writing PA scripts, executing on-court/ice promotions, coordinating timeouts, and setup of special events and gameday.
•Culture of Excellence: Supports the goal of a culture of excellence by collaborating, researching, and creating graphics and promotional material throughout the Northeastern community. In addition, supporting the sponsorship and development offices in activating partners and execution of events.
•Opportunities to Engage: Supports the goal of creating opportunities to engage by collaborating with communications, marketing, video, ticketing, sponsorship and fundraising personnel to cultivate digital messaging to inform, engage and inspire pride among a diverse group of stakeholders. In addition, helping to develop and improve relationships with student groups and on campus offices to drive interest and attendance for athletic events, as well as create a cohesive approach to the student experience.
•Platforms for Success: Supports the goal of enhancing operational efficiency by on-boarding, training, and supervising a team of 30+ student workers and interns while also providing support to spirit groups including dance, cheer, pep band, and the mascot team.
•Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator).
•Must possess a bachelor’s degree and currently be enrolled or eligible for enrollment in the Northeastern Master of Sports Leadership graduate degree program. Employment is contingent upon admission and enrollment in the graduate program. As a condition for retention, the GA must remain in good academic standing within the graduation program.
•Passionate and knowledgeable about sports, as well as relevant industry trends that will help keep Northeastern Athletics ahead of the curve in telling stories through digital content creation.
•Enthusiastic about offering up fresh ideas and suggestions to all levels of the external department, and collaborating with a team of communications, marketing and video professionals to develop memorable content for a diverse group of stakeholders.
•Ability to work flexible hours (some weeknights and weekends are required) and under tight deadlines.
•Must be able to think creatively, work independently, and possess strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills while working with little supervision and exhibit a detail/customer service focused mindset in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Additional Salary Information: The recipient of this position will receive a tuition scholarship award that will cover half of the Master of Sports Leadership program, as well as a stipend. The recipient must maintain and fulfill the agreed upon time commitment of this position and all designated responsibilities.
