Job Requisition Number: 26670. The UC Berkeley School of Public Health was founded in 1943; during 2018 we celebrated our 75th anniversary. The School is a world-renowned institution and widely regarded as the birthplace of social epidemiology. Our research broadly focuses on the interaction of biological, behavioral, and environmental determinants of human health.
In 2018-19, the UC Berkeley School of Public Health enrolled 720 graduate students across MPH, MS, MA, PhD, and DrPH degree offerings, as well as educating 400 undergraduate students through the (capped) upper-division public health major. Among our graduate students, 160 are enrolled in our online MPH program, which we aim to continue to expand.
The SPH Marketing Content Manager is responsible for developing and executing on a strategic content marketing plan, as well as generating, disseminating, and evaluating marketing content across multiple platforms and publications. The primary goal of the marketing is to recruit students to our revenue generating programs, particularly the On-Campus/Online Master of Public Health Program. Secondary goals include inspiring donors and alumni to engage with and support the School and elevating the School’s brand broadly among peers, policymakers, campus leadership, and others.
•Develops, implements, and manages comprehensive marketing strategies to prospective students and donors that supports the UC Berkeley SPH and in particular the online MPH, across multiple platforms including web, email/digital marketing, and social media. •In collaboration with team and School stakeholders, creates, plans, produces, and evaluates marketing, advertising, and promotion content and materials to implement marketing strategies and revenue generating objectives, both digitally and in print. •Writes, produces, and curates informational material, stories, profiles, and other content for recruitment, admissions, development, and communications designed to reach maximum number of partners/prospects or targeted audiences. •Gives input on the evaluation of promotion or advertising programs and helps implement modifications, as needed. •Ensures promotion of UC Berkeley and School of Public Health “brand” identities and maintains and monitors “brand” communications to both campus and off-campus audiences. •Consults with School and campus stakeholders, as well as affiliated companies and organizations, to develop and implement promotional plans, marketing approaches, and media strategies. Attends inter-functional enrollment task force meetings and other team meetings to liaise with key stakeholders. •Researches and recommends new methods for generating revenue through innovative marketing strategies and/or content. •Other duties, as assigned.•Thorough written and visual communication skills. •Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, techniques, and applications relevant to the field of marketing academic programs to prospective students and funding and other opportunities to donors and alumni. •Thorough skills in conceiving, writing, developing, and implementing creative promotional and advertising strategies in a team environment. •Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills. •Skill in developing and implementing original ideas and correctly identifying and effectively solving problems. •Analytical and research skills, particularly web and social media analytics. •Skill in collaborating with colleagues and mentoring less experienced staff. •Education/Training: A Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience.
