The Marketing Manager serves as the hub between the Project Managers of SGIA’s core internal projects and the marketing personnel who implement the marketing efforts. The Marketing Manager provides structure and planning to project marketing plans based on the specific needs of the projects as they are defined. They establish the primary audience and audience personas and provide definitions around that audience for list development by the Email Marketing Specialist. The Marketing Manager holds vendor lists for all marketing deliverables including direct mail, video production, social media channels, show support, etc. Works closely with accounting to verify that all project invoicing is correctly managed and coded. Works within SGIA’s marketing project management tool to assign tasks as necessary. Manages the marketing project management tool to mark tasks complete and to monitor incomplete or overdue tasks. Also monitors efforts outside of the project management tool to make sure that no tasks get overlooked or forgotten.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES AND DUTIES:
Project Management (75%)
Serve as a primary liaison to SGIA’s internal project managers concerning all aspects of their project’s marketing efforts.
In conjunction with VP and Project Managers, establishes a discovery process, and determines marketing plans.
Maintains all marketing plans within SGIA’s marketing project management tool. Assigns tasks, monitors projects, enforces deadlines, etc.
Collaborates with Project Managers to develop unique and creative ideas in an effort to provide the best marketing results possible.
Monitors reactions to marketing efforts and adjusts the marketing plan accordingly if necessary.
Along with the VP of Marketing & Communications the Marketing Manager is responsible for post-effort data analysis.
Vendor Management and Budgeting (25%)
Works with the VP of Marketing and Communications and Project Managers to develop budgets for all internal project’s marketing plans.
Monitors the budget and selects vendors based on budgetary and plan needs.
Works with the VP of Marketing & Communications to monitor incoming quotes and invoices from vendors and ensures that invoices are coded properly.
Serves as the right-hand of the VP of Marketing & Communications with all budgetary issues and vendor meetings.
Maintains a vendor list and understands the abilities of each vendor to fulfill needs as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with, or show aptitude and willingness to learn, various media and audio-visual equipment in the presentation of content. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Excellent relationship-building skills. The right individual must posses a “the buck stops here” attitude and owns the management of all tasks they are overseeing. The ability to multi-task and to switch focus or projects quickly depending on the needs of department and the individuals within the department is a must.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires Bachelor’s degree in marketing and/or communications or related field with three to five years of relevant experience. Experience in the industry or industry-related association preferred. Previous supervisory experience required. Must be proficient using Microsoft Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint. Experience and/or knowledge of the basics in Adobe Creative Cloud, Social Media platforms, and other media development software is a plus.
