Information Specialist I, pay Grade 40, exempt. Position summary: The College of Communication and Information (CCI) at the University of Tennessee is seeking to fill a full-time staff position focused on marketing and recruitment, with a specific focus on communication support of three schools within the college: School of Advertising and Public Relations, School of Communication Studies, and School of Journalism and Electronic Media. The CCI Marketing & Communication Specialist is responsible for the ongoing creation, implementation and evaluation of strategic communication plans, to promote CCI's graduate and undergraduate programs, with the overarching goals of student recruitment and increased brand awareness. The successful applicant will have specialized training in marketing, communications, public relations or related field, and must have experience with digital communication. He/she will also be tasked with maintaining and growing CCI's social media presence via applications such as Facebook and Twitter, and with monitoring and responding to emerging communication platforms. Additional duties include: managing CCI email accounts, responding to (or directing) general inquiries, writing and posting relevant content to the college and schools' website, utilizing field marketing strategies and techniques to increase CCI enrollments across all three schools and CCI's masters and doctoral program (e.g., through career fairs, undergraduate and graduate students' fairs, conferences, etc.). Position responsibilities: Strategically support three schools' marketing, recruiting and communication efforts, including: (1) providing communication support for on-campus and off-campus events; (2) traditional and online communication support; (3) story content for online and traditional communication; (4) supporting schools' recruiting events, welcoming socials, and other special events; (5) working in coordination with schools' directors in developing strategic plans for marketing, communication and recruiting efforts; and (6) evaluating schools' communication efforts. Create, manage and evaluate CCI marketing and recruiting efforts, including: (1) working with Board of Visitors members and other professionals to develop long-term strategic communication plan for the college, including implementation and evaluation; (2) managing the brand of the college; (3) providing a continual source of communication regarding marketing and recruiting efforts for the college; (4) working with faculty, staff and students in managing the college brand; and (5) working in coordination with the associate dean for academic affairs in creating, managing and evaluating CCI marketing and recruitment efforts. Field marketing and recruiting, including: (1) working with the schools to participate in on-campus and off-campus recruiting efforts; and (2) working with the director of advising to participate in on-campus and off-campus recruiting efforts. Managing CCI digital communication channels (email, social media), including: (1) strategic planning on the use of digital communication for the college; (2) managing the various digital communication channels for the college; (3) providing timely content for social media and other digital communication channels; and (4) evaluating digital communication efforts of the college.
