SUMMARY We are currently working with a distributor of safety related products to identify a Director of Sales & Marketing. With over 20 years in business, this company offers a wide range of safety related products to multiple industries and currently has over 8K customers and 13 locations. They are currently 65 employees strong, have a low turnover rate, and a friendly down to earth atmosphere.
In summary, the Director of Sales & Marketing will be a key member of the executive management team and oversee the sales and marketing departments, with direct reports consisting of outside sales, marketing, and inside sales staff. This ideal incumbent will possess a strong ability to manage and develop a sales staff, hold others accountable, and help their staff break down roadblocks. Additionally, they will have worked on a strategic level and have proven experience in helping a company expand. The Director of Sales and Marketing will develop the annual sales growth plan and work to continue to deepen the Company's market penetration and expand territories.
POSITION The Director will work with the salespeople to ensure they are developing at an acceptable rate, for training salespeople in pricing structures, and ensuring minimum gross profit margin goals are maintained by sales and marketing. The Director will direct marketing efforts that support and grow market share. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that all salespeople are trained on product lines that they are expected to sell, monitoring market tendencies and identifying opportunities that fit within the Company's structure, hiring/firing/evaluating/coaching employees, and work constructively with the entire Company as a team player.
Key components of the job will include: • Develop and implement a sales growth program. • Develop sale people to maximize their sales efficiency. • Determine and setup sales territories. • Identify product lines and market segments to focus on and ensure that sales people are focusing on those areas. • Manage all marketing efforts to support and grow sales and profit. This includes any and all websites to support the goals of the Company. • Track sales person performance factors, identify problem areas and implement corrective action. • Review sales call reports and validate expense reports prior to reimbursement. • Assist with collection efforts as needed. • Perform annual evaluations of subordinates and review with them. • Provide feedback and assistance to other department managers that will result in providing customers with a desired level of support. • React to change productively and handle other essential tasks.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A combination of experience and some college education will be considered. • At least 10+ years of growth oriented experience, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar level position. • Must have experience working in a B2B, industrial customer based sales environment, with a high volume of accounts, and at least a regional based sales territory. • Must possess outstanding planning, organizing, and problem solving skills. • Ability to travel to and from work and customer locations. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
