Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Manager of Planning Communication and Marketing for the Office of the Dean at the School of Public Health. Under the direction of the Executive Manager, The Manager, Planning, Communication, and Marketing develops, executes, and maintains the branding, communications, and marketing strategy for the diverse audiences targeted by the Rutgers, School of Public Health (SPH). Oversees the development and implementation of the SPH website, print and digital materials and services. The Manager, Planning, Communication and Marketing serves as the primary source, disseminator, and coordinator of information ensuring that the School's mission and vision is maintained throughout.
Develops and manages all aspects of the School of Public Health's look and branding including websites, communications materials, marketing initiatives, all print and electronic collateral including newsletters and brochures. Works in conjunction with the Directors of the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and Office of Student Affairs, to oversee the development of recruitment materials, merchandise and targeted communications.
Develops long and short-term plans for bolstering the school's visibility.
Serves as primary point of contact for all external media appearances involving the Dean including news print, television, and radio.
Manages all school related marketing and communication efforts with central RBHS and Rutgers University offices.
Develops and maintains a portfolio of School logos, presentations, and other marketing materials.
Works directly with the Dean to fashion editorials, commentaries and other writings.
Manages communication strategies with the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH).
Manages SPH communications and visibilities at annual New Jersey and National Public Health conferences.
Serves as the coordinator of special events. Oversees annual marketing event planning including annual conferences and convocation.
Manages, develops, and provides metrics on all marketing and communications initiative activities earned media, social media, and brand related communications.
Approves and manages all Rutgers School of Public Health Centers/Institutes and student group social media accounts, branding, and marketing initiatives, when applicable.
Works with the Rutgers School of Public Health's Dean and leadership to draft and create official internal and external communications including official memos, announcements, and statements.
Manages a team of specialty employees including graphic designers, writers, photographers, web developers, web designers, and administrative support.
Collaborates with various Rutgers School of Public Health units, faculty, and staff to create communications strategies that support marketing, recruitment, and brand-building initiatives for our distinct audiences.
Creates and manages SPH social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Manages and approves all print and electronic initiatives associated with the Rutgers School of Public Health or use of its logo in line with University Policy and procedures.
Builds and maintains relationships with Rutgers University leadership, partners, stakeholders, press, media, and others.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
Five (5) years of progressively more responsible related professional and/or administrative experience.
At least one (1) year of experience shall have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
At least one(1) year of experience working in an academic environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work well with all levels within the organization, including school/university officials, faculty, staff, and students with diplomacy, executive maturity and sensitive human relations skills.
Highly motivated, well organized, detail-oriented, creative and innovative, and possess good time management skills.
Knowledge of strategic social media and public relations practices, and an understanding of social media platforms, including but not limited to LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter – both as a marketing manager and user.
Superior attention to detail, excellent presentation skills, and strong writing and editing skills.
Ability to think innovatively and creatively, and change course if necessary, to achieve desired results.
Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in In-Design, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Flash.
Ability to function in a team environment.
Knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment.
Master's Degree preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism.
Media relations experience is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to Lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
Flexible regarding work hours in order to accommodate the demands of the Dean's Office.
May be required to work late nights and weekends when meeting deadlines.
Valid driver's license.
Salary: Maximum authorized hiring amount $75,000
