Job Purpose Towson University is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Athletics Marketing. This newly created position plays a vital role in creating, managing and analyzing multi-channel marketing plans in support of attendance and revenue goals for Towson University athletics. With a focus on key performance indicators and a results-oriented approach, the Assistant Director defines and executes strategies to reach TU's target audiences with compelling creative in both paid and owned media channels across campus and across the Greater Baltimore region. In this important marketing position, the Assistant Director also works to align athletics messaging with Towson University's unique brand, voice and visual identity.
The Assistant Director of Athletics Marketing manages strategy, development, analysis and optimization of all university athletics marketing campaigns. As a key member of TU's Marketing and Brand Strategy Department the Assistant Director collaborates closely with both the university's Marketing and Communication Division and the Athletics Division to promote and elevate awareness of the university's Division I sports teams. In creating comprehensive, measurable, multi-channel marketing plans the Assistant Director helps establish and refine the unique positioning of the university's sports experience for current and soon-to-be fans. This position oversees creation of advertising content across multiple platforms including, but not limited to digital, broadcast, out-of-home, display, mobile, experiential, social, print and direct mail. Using all available metrics, the Assistant Director collects and analyzes data to help increase return on advertising investment in support of athletics goals. In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a diverse and award-winning team of creative and marketing professionals in addition to valued vendors and partners, including the university's agency of record.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field. A minimum three years of professional experience working in an advertising, communications or marketing capacity with proven expertise in creating compelling campaigns with measurable results. Proven ability to think creatively and develop solutions to marketing challenges. Experience identifying and defining targeted audiences and how to adapt messaging to various groups. Working knowledge of social media best practices, email marketing and content strategy as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to write effectively. Experience working with marketing and customer analytic resources like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Salesforce, SEM Rush, Moz, Social Studio and other comparable tools.

Preferred, but not required:
Experience creating advertising or content to meet revenue goals. Expertise developing attribution models and/or customer journeys. Experience in media buying and advertising placement.
