Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director Public Relations, Marketing & Communications for the School of Management and Labor Relations. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Finance and Admin. This position is responsible for the management and implementation of the school's marketing and communications activity. This position is responsible for developing the school's marketing and communication strategic plans working with all the units in the school and ensuring the plans are effective and using current technology.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works closely with the school's Press Officer and Director of Development on strategic planning and external communications.
Responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan, working with unit heads to ensure messaging, branding and website content is relevant and current, managing the website and all revisions, managing partners and consultants hired for marketing expertise and website development.
Manages school communications and outreach communications, managing social media of the school and managing printed marketing materials development and distribution.
Ensures compliance with university rules and regulations as well as SMLR policies and procedures established by the school's dean and executive committee.
Makes decisions regarding improving the marketing and communications of the school.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, English, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates skill, knowledge, and understanding, as appropriate, of public relations, promotions, marketing, proofreading, writing, editing, public communications, coordination, and project management; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Also requires a minimum of five years relevant experience in a journalism, public relations or communications function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy to include industry standard software.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional ability in written and oral communications.
Strong researching, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Up-to-date knowledge of web communications, including content management systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to interact professionally and effectively with faculty, research staff, and vendors.
Prior knowledge of and/or passion and desire to rapidly learn the topic areas that SMLR works in (e.g. human resources, labor and employment relations) preferred.
Masters in Communications, MHRM, MLER, MBA or related advanced degree preferred along with higher education background.
Proven team building and facilitation skills.
Proven ability to analyze data such as google analytics.
Salary: 69,131 to 103,211
