General Description: Salary: up to $42,500 commensurate with education and/or experience Eastern New Mexico University has a growing enrollment of over 6,000 students and is located in Portales, NM. ENMU is the third largest university in the state and is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference. ENMU sponsors 14 NCAA sport programs with approximately 450 student-athletes, as well as men's and women's rodeo.
The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.
Position Summary: Under limited supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Events and Life Skills (AADMELS) is responsible for the direct the planning and execution of all intercollegiate sporting events and special events including all game day operations, promotions and game day sponsorship's. In coordination with the Athletic Administrative Office Coordinator, assist with ticketing strategies and implementation. Assist with the solicitation of corporate partners, sponsors, boosters and fund raising activities for the athletic department including the required servicing required for these activities. Lead or co-lead student-athlete life skills, community service and retention efforts and programming. May serve as the Student-Athletic Advisory Council advisor. Assist with athletic compliance as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement all marketing and promotion for all men’s and women’s athletics
Coordinate initial concept and management in the designing and distributing of all promotional materials
Manage upkeep of all marketing and publicity, including print, radio, Facebook, etc. in coordination with the sports information department.
Responsible for overseeing all game day operations and event management
Coordinate game day promotions, including but not limited to half-time entertainment and fan participation contests
Develop promotional materials for athletic events
Play a key role in fund-raising activities
Train and supervise marketing student workers and interns
Assist in the execution of all membership drives and fundraising efforts for the Greyhound Club
In conjunction with Director of Athletics responsible for solicitation, procurement, and retention of corporate partners
In conjunction with Director of Athletics execute fulfillment of corporate partner contracts
Assist with ticket sales as needed
Coordinate concession support for ENMU Athletic Events
Oversee the ENMU Spirit Squad
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in a related field required, Masters Degree in related field is preferred
A minimum of one year of related experience required. One year experience working in an administrative capacity in intercollegiate athletics is preferred
Must have a commitment to the integrity, success and prosperity of intercollegiate athletics
Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to work evenings and weekends in a fast paced environment.
Experience in event operations preferred
Experience working in marketing and/or donor relations/fund-raising in some capacity preferred
Experience working with collegiate level student-athletes with leadership development, life skills and/or academic skills preferred
Experience working with student-athlete eligibility and/or NCAA Compliance in some capacity preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Professional demeanor, strong integrity, and passionate desire to grow as a professional, while contributing to the value of the athletic department, University and community
Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently, exercise creativity, solve problems, be attentive to detail, lead, organize and deploy staff, in a fast-paced environment.
Be a strong team player and develop team dynamics within the athletic staff
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work professionally and effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Ability to understand and follow established policies, procedures, and guidelines
Ability to serve as a good will ambassador for the athletic department
Knowledge of computer software programs
Graphic Design skills are preferred
Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work requires substantial physical activity including occasional lifting of objects of approximately 50 lbs.
