The Marketing Manager at Taubman College will manage the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning's Advancement Team’s marketing initiatives through writing, design and web-based communications. The marketing manager is responsible for the creation and management of tools that promote college and alumni news to internal audiences, the U-M community, alumni and other external audiences. The position works collaboratively with the college's Advancement Team, including the Assistant Dean of Advancement; Director of Development and Alumni Relations, web designer, events manager, and graphic designer. The position reports to the Marketing Communications Senior Director.
Work with senior leadership of the College to support and maintain the implementation of a strategic, multi-channel, marketing communications plan leveraging print, email marketing, presentations, video, advertising, and other media on behalf of the college and alumni news.
Manage the creation, including content, design and distribution, of donor, alumni and admissions marketing materials and publications, including an alumni magazine.
Oversee college, industry and alumni communication strategies, including email list management and HTML email creation via MailChimp including event emails: Taubman in The News; Alumni Quarterly Updates.
Leverage our marketing assets, including photos, videos and content, by assisting with their integration into our web brand on the college website and social media channels.
Support marketing analytics, SEO and advertising efforts to ensure that the communication needs of all College programs are met proactively, with an emphasis on degree program awareness.
Support administrative functions of team, including budget tracking.
Contributes to our positive and inclusive community by building trusting partnerships across all stakeholders, creating impactful experiences, and working with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in mind.
Responsible for research, special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or related field and at least 5 years of experience with development and execution of communication planning and strategies.
Demonstrable at least 5 years project management experience, contributing to writing, digital, and print materials.
Demonstrated ability to write and edit high-level, thought-leadership material.
Experience working with graphic designers, freelance writers, content owners, and web managers.
Experience with marketing analytics, SEO and advertising.
Experience with MailChimp, CRM systems and InDesign.
Experience in marketing to higher education audiences.
Proven ability to successfully interact with a diverse group of people, in a team-based, collaborative environment.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Conceptual, creative thinker with a passion for writing and story-telling.
Ability to quickly build a network of resources within the university and work with people at all levels of the institution.
