The Director of Enrollment Management and Marketing is responsible for all aspects of San Diego French American School (“SDFAS”, a preK-8 dual language immersion school)’s enrollment and retention efforts as well as for administration of the school’s financial aid program. The Director is also responsible for the school’s year-round marketing strategy and implementation. A member of the senior leadership team reporting to the Head of School, the Director directly supervises the school’s communications manager, graphic designer and website consultants.
The Director plays a vital role at SDFAS, providing leadership and setting the school’s recruitment and enrollment management strategies and objectives. As one of the school’s most visible spokespersons, the Director represents the school to all constituents, including students, parents, alumni, faculty and administration. In order to ensure that the office achieves its goals, the Director takes initiative to conduct research, compile data and statistics, attend conferences, and generally stay abreast of best practices within the fields of admissions and retention, financial aid and marketing.
Duties and responsibilities:
Admissions, Retention and Financial Aid
Develops and maintains an in depth working knowledge of the curriculum and signature programs of SDFAS as well as strong relationships with faculty, staff, fellow administrators, students and parents
Provides leadership in enrollment management and oversees the processes of attracting, selecting, enrolling and retaining students at SDFAS effectively communicating the school’s philosophy, mission and programs to families.
Sets annual admission goals in accordance with the school’s mission to promote economic, racial, and ethnic diversity in the student body and based on the school’s overarching goals for enrollment.
Oversees the creation of dynamic admission materials as well as the dynamism of all relevant school web page rubrics
Manages new student enrollment and the re-enrollment of current students in close connection with the Business Office and Head of School.
Organizes and administers the School’s financial aid program and budget in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Operations and the Head of School.
Maintains statistical and trend data related to application and inquiry pipeline, admissions, enrollment, retention and financial aid.
Understands and informs school leadership about current research, demographics, and admissions and enrollment trends, ensuring that changes and challenges are anticipated, understood, and addressed.
New family transition: -- Coordinates and supports the transition of new families into the school. -- Develops and oversees tools and systems to maintain contact with new families as of acceptance.
Supports administrative effort to address and manage transition points, build retention, navigate transition to high school and develop a programmatic response
Participates with the Middle School leadership (MS Director and High School Placement Counselor) in the transition of students to High School (informs parents, helps organize High School night, invites and welcomes alumni).
Maintains and encourages relationships with transition schools.
Oversees all off- and on-campus recruitment events, including Open Houses and Campus tours programs.
Maintains and enhances the School’s good standing in relevant professional organizations.
Develops, implements and evaluates a strategic marketing plan in collaboration with the Communications Manager, Director of Development, DFO, Head of School and the Board, with a strong focus on developing new student/family prospects, and strengthening brand identity within the community.
Participates in the development and marketing of new and existing programs in coordination with the Director of Outreach Programs and Enrichment Manager
Oversees and ensures the work product quality and strategy alignment of the Communications Manager and Graphic Designer
Oversees the work of the Alumni Coordinator and makes effective use of alumni data and network in support of admissions and marketing strategies
Leadership and Leadership Team Support
Participates as an active member of the Head of School’s senior administrative team.
Extends himself/herself beyond the responsibilities of a job description and assists the Head of School with all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and required experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field related to area of assignment (Master’s Degree preferred)
Three to five years of admissions or enrollment management experience; or, any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
