The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) is a dynamic national trade association representing the supermarket industry on the cutting-edge of food and consumer trends. We are looking for a Manager who can initiate, develop and manage sales & marketing strategies for all of FMI Affinity programs (FMI Members Plus program) to meet organizational objectives of member service and savings and to increase non-dues revenues, maximize revenue sources, strengthen brand awareness, market positioning, and support member retention and growth.
We are looking for a true sales and marketing professional with a proven track record of setting sales and marketing strategies/goals and exceeding expectations. In this multi-faceted position, you will:
•Work with the Vice President, Industry Events & Marketing to formulate and execute short- and – long-term organizational and program-related marketing and sales plans and budgets with the goal in mind of maximizing member value and FMI revenue. Evaluate marketing and promotional plans.
•Develop a robust (yet realistic) sales plan and make outbound sales calls to create stronger employer buy-in and adoption to the SafeMark retailer food safety program. Work with business partners (online training, testing and certification partner) to expand the program and accomplish revenue goals. Conduct follow up on sales leads and existing SafeMark® customers in coordination with the FMI Food Safety team. Maintain a prospect list and conduct sales outreach and follow-up to increase SafeMark® sales.
•Work with the external program partners to create, implement and evaluate sales, marketing and promotional plans and adjust as needed for program growth.
•Manage collaboratively with affinity partners to promote their outreach and FMI’s involvement with members, associate members and potential members. Monitor their progress.
•Analyze new programs and opportunities and recommend new initiatives and program enhancements.
•Manage sales and marketing recruitment campaigns to include: working with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing plans and developing effective promotional/marketing materials (to include design oversight, copywriting, editing and proofing). Conduct performance analysis to identify opportunities for improvement of marketing plans. Construct and maintain marketing budgets.
•Identify needs for new outside resources, devise contracts, manage relationships and ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables. Negotiate advertising contracts and barters in coordination with the marketing team.
Candidates who will succeed in this role will have:
•A college degree and/or coursework in business administration, marketing/sales or other related degree
•Three to five plus years of relevant experience working in a similar capacity
•Strong business acumen with a solid marketing and sales background
•Superior relationship and team-building experience working with internal and external stakeholders
•Expert-level written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
•A flexible and open mindset
•Strong time management, organization and project management skills
•Expertise in using the entire Microsoft Office Suite (2010) – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
•The ability to travel on behalf of the organization as needed
