Director of Marketing and Public Relations is responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the brand and position of Hennepin Technical College within the marketplace. This position develops and facilitates internal and external communications and all marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials.
Lead projects such as specialty program marketing and special events. Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for marketing and communications activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance of such activities.
Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, and the education industry.
Lead, supervise and direct department and contract personnel.
Lead and serve on various marketing and public relations-related committees at Hennepin Technical College and Minnesota State.
Ensure the brand and messaging of Hennepin Technical College is properly represented in all media forms and act as the college's representative with the media.
Perform other duties as assigned.
NOTE: Must be available to work evenings and weekends and able to travel between campuses and to off-site locations.
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, awareness of collective bargaining and contract administration.
Proven success in marketing and communications strategy as demonstrated by product launch(es), branding initiatives, or marketing campaigns.
Demonstrated excellent writing and editorial skills sufficient to produce marketing and public relations communications that reflects the image and brand of an organization.
Strong knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), re- targeted and programmatic advertising tools.
Knowledge of graphic design, use of social media, digital media and public relations to expand and positively promote the college, programs, or events.
Demonstrated ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment.
Ability to travel between campuses as well as other local and regional venues.
Ability to move up to 25 pounds.
8 years communication and/or marketing experience.
Demonstrated ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches and departmental contribution.
Experience with customer-focused product development, outreach and implementation.
Experience launching and managing marketing campaigns.
Experience managing communication channels.
Knowledge of marketing, market research, and advertising in addition to a comprehensive understanding of the printing industry.
Understanding of sociology, and how it impacts behavior and the choices of individuals.
Knowledge of college and Minnesota State policies, programs and curricular content sufficient to edit college documents of record.
