The Marketing and Community Engagement Manager is a new position that will work on promoting two similar youth music organizations that share an office suite (Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras and Pittsburgh Youth Chorus). We are combining marketing and community engagement in this unique position because our true audience is the students who enroll in our programs, and we want to reach as many of them as possible. As this is a new position, we are looking for a creative, think-outside-the box professional who is passionate about the importance of arts education, and who can also bring some tried and true marketing experience. These organizations have big plans, so opportunities for growth for the right team member.
Responsibilities could include:
Helping both organizations identify neighborhoods and communities which could benefit from programming;
Creating and implementing recruitment plan for both organizations;
Creating and implementing outreach and community engagement plan for both organizations;
Managing various email campaigns and growing email lists organically;
Building and manage the companies’ social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and additional channels that may be deemed relevant;
Creating shareable content appropriatefor specific networks to spread both our brand and our content;
Connecting with influential media outlets and journalists to place stories about company news and other initiatives;
Promoting events, concerts, auditions;
Managing some content on organizations’ websites;
Creating and issuing monthly e-newsletters, etc.;
Selling and tracking advertisements for concert programs and/or websites;
Assisting with preparing content for concert programs;
Assisting at concerts and special events (some weekend/evening hours);
Recruiting/working with/partially overseeing marketing/community engagement interns and volunteers.
Status: Full Time, exempt. Office work + some nights and weekends. Some flexibility in scheduling.

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business, or equivalent working experience;
Some knowledge of music (orchestral and/or choral), and a sincere belief in the importance of arts education;
Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions;
Knowledge of best practices in community engagement trends in Pittsburgh and/or nationally;
Proficiency in email marketingand marketing automation technology;
Excellent writer and communicator (in both the written and verbal form);
Capable with computers, minimum 50wpm typing, and knowledge of, or ability to learn software (Office Suite, Constant Contact, MailChimp, DonorPro, WordPress, etc.);
Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media, with a command of each network and best practices;
Some graphic design experience a plus;
Connections with or knowledge of Pittsburgh neighborhoods, schools and districts, general geography helpful;
Act 33 and 34 clearances required, FBI background check also required.
Additional Salary Information: Salary range $35,000-$40,000, commensurate with experience and vision.
Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras [Pittsburgh, PA] provide well-rounded music education programs and performance opportunities for young people to foster lifelong passion, appreciation, and support of music.
In 1974, Pittsburgh Symphony harpist Phyllis Barbash founded Three Rivers Training Orchestra (a full symphonic orchestra) for students ages 13-18. In response to inquiries for an even y...ounger orchestra, Symphonette (a string training ensemble) was added in 1985 to serve students ages 8-14. In that year, we became Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras (TRYPO). In the 2015-16 season in collaboration with City Music Center at Duquesne University and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, TRYPO launched its third ensemble program, the Youth Chamber Connection which provides small ensemble opportunities for students ages 7-22.
